This unique design met the specific needs of the client, seeking a countryside get away that facilitated their remote working requirements. A local character study was completed to understand the local vernacular to seek inspiration and ensure any proposal was appropriately responsive to the surrounding context. A mixture of mono-pitch, pitched and barrel roof profiles were found. This resulted in a design comprising three distinct elements, with the individual buildings arranged in a courtyard configuration. Larger glazed openings were placed on the rear elevation taking full advantage of the south-westerly sun and key views of the surrounding hills.
